First Verbs: Être!

Now that French Ia has ended, here's another bonus content!

Verbs are very important in any language- we've learned a lot of nouns, but this is the first verb to learn.  While you're learning it on your own, think about whether you'd like to move on to French I! It's a more serious class, but you'll learn a lot more stuff like this. :)

La négation

Don't forget to take notes in your workbook as you watch the videos!

• Activity One: 
• Watch the video about simple negation- there are going to be words in French you don't understand yet, and that's okay!  You need to get the idea of negation.  Don't worry, you'll have a chance to practice!
• Activity Two:
• This isn't actually about negation!  Surprise!  This is a fun video, of the French equivalent of Bert and Ernie- enjoy!

Noun/Adjective Agreement

Congratulations!  You've almost worked your way through the first of the vocabulary for French Ia!  Way to go!

• Activity One:
• Reinforce the idea of gender agreement with adjectives and nouns by watching the video.  Take notes in your workbook if anything helps you understand!  Notice that -e is not the only thing to make things feminine!  We'll talk more about that in French I.  :)  For now, keep the idea as a placeholder!
• Activity Two:
• Here's another video to help!  Again, take notes if you find things that help!
• Activity Three:
• Now that you've had some things to think about, take some time to practice!  Go to this website and click "Drag and Drop Puzzle" to play!  You'll be sorting masculine and feminine adjectives.  :)
• Activity Four:
• I *heart* Alexa!  She has some great points here that help in understanding gender!  The video is a little long, but so worth it!  Make a note in your workbook that ARTICLES ARE SO IMPORTANT!  :)
